He was giving away a whale-watching adventure for 2 people every month. He grew his email subscribers to 2,300, just from that one summer. A chiropractor did not have anybody on his email list when he began. But he discovered a database of around a 1000 patients, fortunately whose contact info they had been collecting since long along with their email IDs. They only had to pour all their email addresses into an email marketing software platform. They leveraged the existing clientele to build their email list.

Start a VIP club and give the members an incentive in exchange for their email address. You’re giving them an incentive, making them feel special and giving them some special offers only to the VIP Club. Exclusivity is key here, people love nice little exclusive deals and that really is a trigger point for people to say ‘I better get my email address on here because I don’t want to miss out on being part of this club’.
